Welcome to your twice weekly news of what’s happening on
the motivation scene.
Do you want to live a more exceptional life silly question really
if you are reading this of course you do lets find out more below
shall we.
There is nothing worse than being unhappy in your work, after all
we spend most of our time there, here are a few tips to make your
workplace a better place.
We all spend most of our time blaming and complaining but can it be
good for us?
Have a great Sunday and see you on Wednesday.
Ways To Live A More Exceptional Life
We all lead very busy lives and sometimes it can be easy to forget
that we are trying to plan our lives to be the way we want it not
this outside world.
One of our problems is we tend we want everything now but what are
you doing about it, stop shouting about what is not right and lets
go out and put it right don’t wait for someone else to do it for
you.
How many of us play the lottery each week in the hope of our dream
coming in but what if you took that money and invested it maybe in
your own business, sure you may have to save up a while but it will
pay in the end and has more chance of success than the lottery.
Must of us spend a lot of time focusing on the wrong thing the
horrible job or the lack of money but none of that is going to
change unless we change first.
So spend some time improving yourself make that time your priority
because without putting you first nothing is going to change.
Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying put yourself first all the
time what I am saying is become a better person, help out more
around the home without being asked, do nice things for other
people and not expect anything back in return, work on yourself and
you will start to feel better about yourself and start to achieve
more.
We all no the people we hang around with are not the most positive
people in the world don’t we? Well try to spend a little less time
with them, yes I know they are your family or your best friend
since high school but they are not going to change, you are.
We become who we mix with start mixing with winners.
Dynamic Ways to be Happier at Work
According to a recent survey almost 60% of us are unhappy in our
work not good when you come to think that you spend most of your
life there.
Well today we have a few ideas to make that situation better
without quitting your job.
It’s Monday morning your boss wants everything done like it was
yesterday you feel like s*** you will probably thinking I do not
want to be here, I hate them wish I could quit.
Try turning the situation around by using an out of body experience
as used in NLP see yourself as a dispassionate observer thinking
there having a bad day how could I change it for them, seeing
yourself in the third person will put a better prospective on it.
Invent a happiness trigger for yourself another technique that is
used in NLP.
Put your thumb and little finger together this is going to be your
happiness trigger, now take them apart, I want you to think of a
really good memory one that really makes you happy, be there right
now see what you saw, feel what you felt, smell the smells taste
the tastes relive that memory as if you were there again, visualise
it in your head, get really involved with it.
Now while you are doing that and at the peak of your excitement I
want you to press your thumb and little finger together really
hard, repeat this process regularly when you have a spare five
minutes, and the next time you are feeling stressed just put those
two fingers together and fell the happiness return.
Every now and again just rehearse this technique to keep it fresh I
personally have been using this de-stressor for about twenty years
and it still works like clockwork every time.
So there are a couple of good tools to use in your hour of need,
but what about the situation itself what can you do to change it?
Well how about flexitime a lot of companies will let you start
later or finish earlier meaning you could miss the rush hour, would
that put you in a better mood, see it as a gift from your boss see
they are human after all.
A lot of the problems start because you start to feel under
pressure, but how about just stepping back and planning your day
allowing time for each task then add another 5-10 minutes to the
time for the task, that way if your boss then drops something
important into your day you have all that spare time to use to do
it.
Take regular breaks get away from your bench or desk maybe if you
can pop outside for some air, at lunchtime leave your place of work
change your environment completely that way you will feel more
refreshed for the afternoon.
Lastly learn how to say no nicely if your boss gives you extra work
make it quite clear you would love to do it but you are a bit busy
at the moment and don’t feel that by rushing it will do it justice,
but if it that important you would be delighted to drop one of your
other tasks to fit it in, that way your workload stays the same and
the boss sees you as a very helpful employee, win win.
To Complain or Blame: Is That the Question?
Now by now you will know me I like to have the odd little whinge
but I recently found out this is not all bad, in fact it can be
good for us.
If we can learn to use this negativity we can in fact use it to
create a better situation, So has my positive attitude gone out the
window, no not quite but if we can look at the situation and
instead of worrying about it learn from it then we would have
turned that negative into a positive.
When things are not going right for us we all like to complain
after all it cannot be our fault so someone else must be to blame
as well makes you feel better already doesn’t it.
In fact we were born to complain as babies if we were hungry we
complained to our mum by crying blaming them for our distress.
Have you ever started a conversation like I had a really good day
today just watch as everybody in that conversation will then drag
it down by saying lucky you I had a really bad day then the next
person will have an even worse scenario in fact we all do it
without realising we are programmed to be negative.
Next time you hear a because watch out there is a blame or
complaint coming up, so what can we do about it, well you are
clever enough to realise this take a step back rethink that
thought, don’t go down that road.
Blaming and complaining are not productive they will only lead to
trouble, stay clear.
