How You Can Eliminate Beliefs For Goodby Morty Lefkoe on March 22, 2011

Most of the techniques that proclaim to permanently eliminate long-held beliefs don’t work. Why? And what do the successful techniques do that make them successful?

In order to understand precisely what it takes to get rid of beliefs, you need to understand how we form beliefs.

Because our survival as human beings is always at stake (even though our spiritual being is eternal), we have a built in survival mechanism that has us constantly asking about everything we encounter: Good for me or bad for me? Conducive to my survival or inimical to my survival? In other words, we are constantly appraising everything we come in contact with and asking (unconsciously): What does this mean?

As children we want to know why mom and dad (on whom our lives depend) are angry with us, or why they aren’t around when we want them, or why we can never seem to please them. For most kids between the ages of two and six, the answers to these three questions usually are: Mistakes and failure are bad. I’m not important. I’m not good enough.

Here’s how the beliefs are formed

After asking ourselves: What do these events mean?—we then “make up” one possible meaning. And then we “attribute” that meaning to the events, after which it seems as if the meaning is inherent in the events. In other words, it then seems to us as if we discovered the meaning in the events.

Because the overwhelming majority of people are “visual”—in other words, they know reality based on what they can “see”—they know their beliefs are true because they think they can see them in the world. Once you think you can see something, logic will never talk you out of what you think you have seen “out there.”

Let’s apply what I’ve just explained about how beliefs are formed to the most common belief people have, I’m not good enough. Mom and dad want quiet. Young kids are rarely quiet. Mom and dad want the house to be neat. Kids are rarely neat. Mom and dad want to serve dinner when it’s ready and leave the house when they are ready to leave the house. Kids are busy playing and doing what they want to do; mealtime and leaving the house are not always a priority for them. As a result, many times each day children do not live up to their parents’ expectations.

At best parents respond with annoyance and frustration, expressed in facial expressions, a tone of voice, and comments like: “What’s wrong with you?” “How many times do I have to tell you?” “Don’t you ever listen?” (At worst, parents use physical abuse and other punishments.)

When a child asks herself, what does it mean that she is not doing what her parents want repeatedly and what do her parents responses mean, the answer 99% of all children give is: I’m not good enough. (My associates and I have talked to well over 13,000 clients who have told us this.)

If she actually were not good enough, her parents’ responses to her behavior would make sense. In other words, this belief is a reasonable interpretation of mom and dad’s response to her when she is a very young child.

Here is the important part: Once she gives this meaning to the events, it seems to her as if her meaning (her belief) is inherent in the events—as if when she looks at the events she is discovering the meaning “out there” in the world. Once that happens, her belief about the way the world is becomes an entrenched “fact.”

Most of the techniques designed to get rid of beliefs never deal with how the belief got formed and what a belief actually is: A statement about reality that it seems you saw in reality. And because you think you saw your beliefs, you will hold on to them—despite understanding logically that the belief isn’t true and despite understanding that it is self-defeating to continue to hold on to the belief. It is virtually impossible to not believe something you think you “saw.”

How to get rid of the belief

So how can you eliminate the belief quickly, easily, and permanently? Here are the simple steps.

Take a look at a given belief and realize it is one “valid” interpretation of your experiences. And then realize that there are other possible interpretations that hadn’t occurred to you at the time you formed the belief, but, nevertheless, could just as easily account for the events. At which point you realize your belief is “a truth” and not “the truth.”

Then the crucial part comes: Put yourself back into the events that led to the belief and, as you look at them, ask yourself: Doesn’t it seem as if I can “see” [the belief]? The answer for visual people will always be: “Yes. And you would have seen it too if you had been there.”

Then ask yourself: Did I really “see” it? Because if you really saw it, you would be able to describe it: color, shape, location, etc. When you realize that you can’t describe it, you immediately realize that, in fact, you never really “saw” the belief. You only saw events, but the meaning of the events—in other works, the beliefs you formed about the events—existed only in your mind.

At this point, for most visual people, the belief is gone. It existed and resisted being extinguished because you thought you had seen it. As soon as you realize you never saw it, that it existed only in your mind, it is no longer something you thought you discovered and saw in the world; it is only one interpretation of many possible interpretations that has existed only in your mind.

As the final clincher, ask yourself if the events that led to the formation of the belief have any inherent meaning. Did they have any meaning before you give them a meaning? By that I mean, can you draw any conclusion for sure from these events? You will quickly realize that the events that led to your belief have many different possible meanings; there is no one meaning that is inherently true. So, while the events might have had consequences at the time they happened, they have no inherent meaning. Any meaning exists only in your mind, not in the world.

At that point, for predominantly visual people, the belief is permanently gone.

Emotionally kinesthetic people are slightly different

The scenario is slightly different for those people who are not visual, who are primarily emotionally kinesthetic. If you are one of these people, you don’t know reality primarily based on what you see, but based on what you feel. If you feel something a lot, it must be true. Why would you be having a feeling over and over if there weren’t something in the world causing it?

These people—when asked: Didn’t it seem as if you saw [your belief]?—answer: “I don’t know what you mean by seeing it; I felt it.”

Here’s how to get rid of a belief if this describes how you function. Ask yourself if the events that caused the belief made you feel [the words of the belief]. The answer will be, yes

Then remind yourself that you had said earlier that the events had no inherent meaning and ask yourself: Is it possible for events that have no inherent meaning to make you feel anything? The answer, of course, is no. So if the events that seemed to have caused the feeling didn’t cause the feeling, what did?

The answer is simple: the meaning you had previously given the events. In other words, the feeling is the result of the belief you had formed. If you had given the events a different meaning, that different meaning would have produced a different feeling. The way to prove this is to imagine the earlier events, observing them as a participant, and then giving the events one of the alternative interpretations you had given the events earlier in the process.

When you do that the “feeling of the belief” is gone.

It becomes clear that having the feeling of the belief repeatedly tells you nothing about the validity of the feeling, because the feeling was not caused by events in the world. They were caused totally by you, by the meaning you already had given the events.

When you say the words of the belief at that point, they will sound meaningless and silly. The belief will be gone.

To summarize: Beliefs are statements about reality that we feel are the truth, that are facts about the world. We are convinced our beliefs are true because we think we saw them in the world and because we felt them so often that they must be true (or else why would we have felt them so often?). Once we realize we never saw the beliefs in the world, that they were only in our mind, and that the feelings we had repeatedly were only because of meanings we gave meaningless events—the beliefs will be gone forever.

Getting rid of beliefs quickly, easily, and permanently is actually very easy when you understand how beliefs are formed and what it takes to eliminate a belief. And now you understand that.

We are in the process of creating an on-line training where you can become proficient in each of the steps of the Lefkoe Belief Process for eliminating beliefs. If you are interested in receiving advance notification, please let me know.

Hi All,

Now I know I have not posted here lately but have been very busy so first up sorry.

Next I promise to make sure I will give you a weekly update of something I feel that will really help you get motivated.

So today I want to pass you over to my good friend Harlen, we have all heard the sad news about Japan, and I have had a few people ask if we manifest everything in our lives did the people of Japan invite this, Harlen will explain more.

There is a link at the end but of course you are under no obligation to click it.

Laurent wants to know if Japan attracted
the catastrophe that is happening over there.

And it all goes back to the same question:

Why do bad things happen to good people?

We grow up educated in the belief that if we are
good, good things will happen to us.

If we are bad, bad things will happen to us.

And we maintain this belief all our lives.

And our religious leaders often encourage this thinking.

A year ago, Reverend Pat Robertson said the earthquake in
Haiti took place because years ago, the people in Haiti
made a “pact with the devil”.

Even the White House called him on that one.

James Ray from The Secret said in a television interview
that it was the people who died in the Holocaust who caused
the Holocaust.

Sorry to say but that’s pretty messed up.

An innocent baby that had it’s head smashed open didn’t cause it.

And it’s this belief that’s hurting a lot of people today.

I hear it in your emails to me and I want to tell you.

IT’S NOT TRUE.

So where did this screw up come from?

One of the things the self-help industry teaches is
that everything in your life is your responsibility.

This does is not the same thing as saying you cause
everything that happens to you.

The people in Japan did not cause the earthquake.

A teenager who develops cancer did not cause the cancer.

So let me clear this up, if I can.

There are two terms that are being used: “responsibility” and “cause”.

You are responsible for the choices you make in your life.

You are responsible for the acts you do.

You are even responsible for your thoughts.

But this does not mean you have the ability to cause things outside your control.

You sitting in your home can not cause an airplane to
crash into your home.

You do not cause the turnpikes, highways, or freeways to
have traffic jams on your way to work.

You do not cause illness in your family.

And people teaching in this fashion are truly hurting people.

But there is a lot of stuff you do bring about because of your mind.

Things that happen to you at work, in your family life, with your friends are things you can bring about.

And above all – YOUR STATE OF MIND IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

The other day a woman wrote in to tell me that she is often
very negative.

That is something you can and should change.

Let’s face it, going through life being negative is no fun.

You actually make things worse.

If you expect to be fired by your boss, you’re going to
bring it about on a subconscious level.

If you expect to be greeted nasty by your wife, she’s
going to comply with the wishes you are projecting.

So you can see that having a positive state of mind is
important for your life.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the sunny side when there’s
so much tragedy happening in the world.

But if you can make your life better, then you are more able
to give to others.

Making positive changes in your life is a way of spreading
more joy and positivity not only for yourself, but for
the world.

So if you’re watching the news and feeling sad and worried,
here’s something that you can do:

Close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Now, open your arms and send love to everyone in Japan
and around the world who needs it.

Then bring your arms in and give yourself a hug, bringing
love back to yourself.

Do this a few times and notice how much more relaxed
and connected you feel.

I know you want to do whatever you can to help those
affected.

But in order to do that you also have to take care of
yourself.

Find out how by clicking here:

Hello welcome to your twice weekly news of what’s happening on the motivation scene.

We all know the problem sometimes we just get dragged along by life and before we realize it we are way off the beaten track, so just remember it is you in the driving seat.

We take another look at finding your life purpose today after lillie asked if I could expand on our last issue when we coved this subject.

And last today a subject your boss would love how to be more productive at work and in the rest of your life.

Have a great Sunday Not sure whether there will be a mail this Wednesday really busy but if not see you next Sunday.

Be a Driver!

I was driving along the other day when I saw a car/bumper sticker that said “I go where I am Towed” and it got me thinking sometimes our lives seem like that don’t they?

We are not in control just going with the crowd or even worse some else in control of your life, not good.

You are meant to be the driver you should be deciding on where you are going not other people, how fast or slow you want to get there, turning left or right or even if it doesn’t feel right doing a U turn.

Yes the road might be bumpy there could be detours along the way but you are in charge and with a good map/plan you can get safely to your journeys end.

Of course no one sets out on a long journey in a car without checking on the oil and water first, so make sure you have enough energy to start with, then the fuel we will all need that stamina to keep going until we reach our goal, and like any long journey take breaks along the way, look back see how far you have come and congratulate yourself it will give you more fuel for the next pat of your journey.

So if your car (or you) have a car/bumper sticker like the one above well I can tell you wont be going far in life, best to change it to “My other car is a ferrari” and get moving.

How to Discover Your Life Purpose in About 20 Minutes

A few issues ago we were looking at being on purpose and how to work out what your purpose is, today I would like to go a bit further and help you discover what is is in under 20 minutes.

When we talk about purpose we are not talking about your job your family even but you do you really know why you are here, the reason you even exist.

Now maybe you are one of those people who do not believe in purpose whether you do or not just suspend your beliefs for a while and follow the rest of us.

First we have to empty our minds, after all there is a lot of trash in there and we have to get rid of the bad stuff before we can find the truth all those stories you have been told growing up that were made up to protect you well you are a big boy/girl now and you can survive on your own.

So where do we start? Well at the beginning of course with a blank sheet of paper and a pen or if you like on your computer open a word document.

Write at the top the following “What is my true purpose in life” stick with this I know it sounds silly but just follow and wait for the light bulb moment.

Now just answer that question do not think about it the first thing that came into your head was the answer even if was baked beans who knows, do not question the answer.

Next just repeat this question and keep answering it with all those silly answer until you get one that makes you cry you have then found your true life purpose.

The hardest part about this is clearing your head first without a clear head this will take all day and still not work so put the preparation in spend 15 minutes just sitting still when a thought comes into your mind just let it go and when you finally feel at peace answer the question, as we have seen with the baked bean answer your purpose will not come to you right away but when it does it will feel slightly different from all those other feelings, I found mine on a holiday in Tenerife strange I know but that’s me.

7 Efficient Ways To Double Your Productivity

If you find yourself struggling to keep up with everything you have to do every day don’t worry help is at hand here I have found seven ways you can increase your productivity

1/ Do your hardest jobs when you have the highest energy levels we all have times of the day when we feel at our best whether it be morning or night just work it out and do the most difficult tasks then.

2/ Write a list, prioritise your list into two groups depending on what the most important thing you must get done today at the top and work down put all the things you MUST do today in that group and only when you have done them can you move onto group 2 the things that can wait yes there maybe some really good things in this list like having a coffee with a friend but you cannot go until you have finished he first list this will help you focus and work smarter finishing these tasks ahead of schedule

3/ As in answer one do the jobs you most hate first get them out of the way you will feel better for it, trust me, this is the key to self discipline, which will boost your efficiency.

4/ Become organized most of us are untidy at heart and this just makes it harder to get started we all are guilty of saying I know where everything is but if you have a clean and tidy desk chances are you will have a clean and tidy life also you will find what you need quicker.

Develop the habit of filing things as soon as you are done with them not putting it off tell later, throw away stuff that is no good to you NOW not later, all these will help you become more productive.

5/ If you commute by train or bus to work use this time maybe read those reports make those phone calls on your cell phone, anything that will give you a head start when you get to work

6/ Take a look at what you do at work is there an easier way you could complete your tasks, research has found that up to 30% of tasks can be optimised for greater efficiently.

7/ Lastly do not let your life get out of balance we all need some ME time so make it your duty to spend time doing what you love and with those you love, this will benefit you even more as a happy person is a more productive one.

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello!

This week I’ve scoured the internet for the most effective strategies to help us.

Well to start off this week I thought we would look at making some money, now that should be enough to motivate you.

Next up can you really be too nice? Well I am afraid you can and others will take advantage of it………..

Lastly we all need to be able to trust people so how do we know if they are going to keep our secret, here are ten ways to find out if we should trust them.

Enjoy have a great week, stay motivated and I will see you on Sunday.

Marketing Creativity

So you want to make some money? Then one way or another you are going to have to sell something, either a product or yourself there is no getting away from it.

But I am useless at selling I hear you, cry I just cant do it!!! Nonsense we just have to look at it from a different angle.

What are you keen on? Maybe a sport? Maybe a Pop Band, what ever it is I want you to stop reading right now and tell me about it, that’s right out loud tell me about for at least a minute (time yourself).

There you go you just spent a minute telling me all about your favourite subject and I bet you could have gone on and on.

In fact you sold me on why you are interested in that subject, so who said you cant sell?

You are just trying to sell something you are not interested in, that’s why its not working you have no enthusiasm for the product so you have two solutions either get some or ship out.

But how do you become enthusiastic about something that does not rock your boat well one way is to look at it from a different angle is it not this product you are selling that enables you to take part in your hobby? Without it you probably would not be able to buy that magazine or trip to the match, so by actually seeing that the product provides for you should make you happier, in fact the more product you move the happier you will be, more money = more pleasure.

So strangely that little nut or bolt you sell that was boring before now becomes very interesting you talk about it more enthusiastically than you did before meaning those sales come easier, who said you couldn’t sell

Being Too Nice

Can you really be too nice, surely not or you would think wouldn’t you but there are indeed times when you can!!!

Most of us were brought up to be polite, “ treat people as you would like them to treat you” as my old granma would say, but I am afraid there are people out there who will take advantage of you with an outlook like that, in fact others could see it as a weakness and exploit it to there own means.

If you really are kind and nice have you noticed how many people keep asking you for favours, and you of course never never say no until you find yourself with too much to do all stressed out and what you are doing is not even going to benefit you!! ARE YOU SERIOUS

and if you don’t do it all you feel guilty after all you promised.

You were brought up the right way, but in these days people will take advantage of you, you need to learn to say no, when you meet someone new do not automatically say you will do something for them, just to please them, just wait see if they offer to do you a favour if so then of course return it.

Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself. You can be kind and strong. That way people will know that you are being genuine but aren’t a pushover.

10 Ways to Elicit Trust

According to ‘experts’ we learn to trust people to the degree we believe they will give us a certain response or outcome to a situation, in other words we trust them to do the right thing, or in fact the thing we want them to do (not always the same).

So I thought today we would look at a few point that will help us judge who to trust.

1.The more you know someone the better over time you will find out how they react and the more you know about them the better

2. If someone looks or dresses like you we tend to feel more confident about them in a recent study in Canada said that people trust people who have the same facial features as they do.

3. People who act consistent are a lot easy to judge you can expect them to react one way or the other.

4. Are they on time, again if they are regularly on time they are consistent so could be conscientiousness and trust worthy.

5. Flexibility recent studies have found we prefer people who will negotiate over someone who is rigid and refuses to move, remember the last car you bought you trusted the salesman because he gave you a deal.

6. Can they keep a secret this will always lead to trust

7. Do they tell you about themselves things you can check out.

8. Are they competent if they get the job done each and every time then they are reliable.

9. Are they your friends trust works both ways if someone really does not appear to like you would you trust them, I think not.

10. Do they spend time with you even at work if they sort out your company you are more than likely to trust them

Sunday 5th December 2010

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello welcome to your twice weekly news of what’s happening on the motivation scene.

So do you put things off? If so our first article is for you it will help you to plan your projects so they become more of a joy and not a task.

Next up are you happy? Well here in Britain our prime minister has just spent a fortune finding out if we are, he should have just asked me, find out more below..

And to conclude does the world seem to get on top of you sometimes well learn how to free yourself from those feelings of frustration.

Have a great Sunday and see you on Wednesday.

From Procrastinator to Producer

Are you always putting things off never quite getting round to do them, if so this article is for you.

If your vocabulary includes words like, “I have to” “I cant” “I need to finish this” “this is important” well you are a Procrastinator.

So lets see what we can do to change that, first we need to break these sayings down then change the wording which will in turn change the meaning.

When you say “I have to” what you mean is you are being forced into doing something you don’t want to do, how about we change the wording to “I choose to” now the power is with you it is your choice whether you do or don’t do it and changes the whole emotion from victim to one of being in charge.

How about “I have to finish this” surely here you are already putting pressure on your self about a non insistent date when this will be done by, why not just Start it and when you have done with it for the day start it again tomorrow, everything that gets started enough times gets completed, this will also build momentum which will make the task more enjoyable and easy along the way.

Now consistently reminding yourself of how long this project is, is not going to help as above we have to think of a new way of looking at it, what if we broke it down into small chunks as the old saying goes “How do you eat an elephant? One small piece at a time” so break the task down into little chunks that are doable in fact allow yourself more time than you need that way you will see how easy this project is, and before you know it that long project has become a short enjoyable task.

David Cameron on happiness

Recently the prime minister of Britain David Cameron decided to spend an awful lot of money on a project to find out if we were happy in our country, now despite us being in total financial ruin he proceed to hire gurus, financial whiz kids, compile a questionnaire and send hundreds of people out onto the street to ask the populace our views!!!!!

What he should have done of course was to ask ME I could have saved him all that time and money.

Now of course these civil servants had to come up with some very posh definitions for happiness apparently according to them to be happy we need: Promotion of sustainable development, presentation and promotion of cultural values, conservation of the natural environment and the establishment of good governance, now depending on you political opinion he has already got the last one wrong, but let us say no more and move on.

Does that sound like happiness to you? Thought not me neither just a bunch of well meaning people coming up with some great ideas that have nothing to do with you or me.

Happiness of course is not a thing, it is not out there it is within each one of us, it does not depend on the state of the nation good or bad it just depends on how we wish to feel, mass unemployment may make one man unhappy (if he were one of them) but it could make the factory boss very happy because he has a lot of people to choose from.

We have all seem the tramp with a big smile on his face, as we have seen the millionaire commit suicide because of their un-happiness.

Happiness cannot be defined if you ask the man on the street what makes him happy as sure as eggs is eggs they will say money, but money is only a bi-product of happiness and totally the wrong way round “I will be happy when!!!” you have to be happy first then you will see the money and not the other way around, so today go out there and be happy about something even if it just the flower in your garden just be grateful that it brightened your day and you know what all of a sudden you will see more and more flowers to be grateful for, just as that nickel in your pocket will turn into a dime as long as you are happy and grateful for the nickel (insert your own currency please).

How to Combat Feelings of Frustration

Sometimes we just cant get things done, you know the feeling that pent up anger inside of you that wants to burst out and say just let me finish this now.

These feelings that can often make the difference between success and failure and it’s an important concept to grasp if you are serious about your own self improvement.

Frustration is a very personal thing for one persons problem is another persons solution, however it can be very, well frustrating really and can turn a positive person into a very negative one very quickly so we need to get our head round it before it takes control of our lives.

Some people can even get so wound up they become violent and it can lead to mental illness, so how can we overcome this monster? Well I wish there was an easy answer but as with all self improvement techniques each is very personal some people will just give up and move on, saying “oh well this was not meant to be” while others will continue to bang there head against that metaphorical wall.

One way is to become aware that you are beginning to feel frustrated at this time you can still step back and say “ok this is not working out as I planned” and get some thinking time or just walk away from it come back to it later when you are calmer never ever just carry on regardless.

Sometimes just that time away from the situation will give you a new idea on the subject and enable you to complete it, or take a walk or do some house work it has been proved that any physical activity reduces muscle tension and relaxes you to look at the situation from a different angle.

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello!

This week I’ve scoured the internet for the most effective strategies to help us.

Are you getting your point across or just talking to the wall, how many times do you talk to someone and they did not listen to a word you said well these tips are for you then.

So you are reading this because you want to improve your life? Well will it take one giant leap or lots of small steps we find out….

Last up today how’s your memory I said or forget it try these tips to improve those grey cells.

Enjoy have a great week, stay motivated and I will see you on Sunday.

10 Minute Body Language

How many times have you had a conversation only to find out later that the other person did not understand a single word you said? Loads I bet.

So either they were a poor listener or you a poor communicator!!

If the later don’t worry we can do something about that, we all need to make ourselves clear whether it is at work or at home and personal and body language is a very important part of that.

First up be confident in what you are saying other people wont take you seriously if you are not sure of yourself and point of view, stand up straight or sit upright without fidgeting or swaying about, keep your head still and upright at all times and your back straight.

Lean ever so slightly forward which gives you the dominant presence in the conversation.

Use your hands but not too much you do not want to look like a windmill, study politicians see how they use there hands to make a point.

Whatever you do always maintain eye contact but do not stare just a glance every minute or so lets you know they are paying attention and also is a good way to emphasise a point.

Still have trouble getting your point across well the next time consider how you look to the other person are you over forbidding or maybe just wandering all over the place with your voice, rehearse what you want to say out load first that way you will know how it will sound to the other person, lastly focus in your mind as if you are willing your point of view on them they may not agree but trust me you will have got your point across clearly and concisely.
What Does It Really Take to Change Your Life?

Is there one big thing that made your life as it is today or was it a number of small things, I remember as a child being told over and over again that I would not amount to anything does that sound familiar to you? From school to at home when ever I did not live up to somebody else’s expectation of me they would always come out with the line I am disappointed in you or he wont get far.

Now to this day I always said to them that is your opinion to which you are entitled!!! You can imagine what trouble that little gem got me into, people especially grown ups do not like the truth.

Only you can decide when it is time for you to change no matter how much other people moan you and you alone are responsible for your life.

So are you going to take charge of your life if so you need a plan as my old high school teacher said (she was right about something’s) “fail to plan and you plan to fail” so whatever it is you want to achieve you need a plan start today by doing some research, find out if people want to buy that product before you buy it and at what price find out as much about the people buying it as you can and you will put yourself ahead of 90% of people in that market.

By doing your research it gives you a very powerful feeling that you know what you are doing and you will achieve it.

Everyday you have the chance to turn your life around, again it might not be this one big decision but by making it you have set off the butterfly effect it may seem small but that breeze created by the butterfly gathers pace and on the other side of the world turns into a massive wave.

So are you going to change today if you keep on doing what you do now you will get the same results but just that one small change today and in five years time your life could be un-recognisable.

Where’s my car? How do I know you? Beating brain glitches

Most memory lapses are perfectly normal — here’s how to handle them

Have you ever put something somewhere safe, I bet you have and what happened you came back and it was so safe that not even you could find it.

Now a days these are normally called senior moments, or maybe silly mummy/daddy moments, but in fact we have them no matter what our age just when you are younger you are to busy enjoying yourself to notice them.

But before you self diagnose yourself with Alzheimer’s or sign yourself into an OAP home, lets see if we can help, have you ever thought you knew someone but cannot for the life of you remember there name? maybe they turned out to be the lady from the post office but you met them in the car park of your local gym, the problem is they are out of context to you, you only know them in the post office, so next time you meet someone remember something physical about them, and say it to yourself in your brain maybe their funny eyes or whatever, that way where ever you are you will know their name.

How about when you are in the middle of a conversation and you just cannot remember that word you want to say, makes you look silly doesn’t it? Or maybe your new cell phone number this is because your brain has some previous information on its mind your old cell phone number and they both clash your brain can only remember one of them so you have to delete the old one, take a few seconds clear your mind and surprise up pops that new number just give it time don’t over rush your brain and it will be there for you.

To help you avoid these embarrassing moments make sure you are getting enough sleep, reduce the stress in your life, and make sure you eat regularly and well along with playing concentration games to keep your brain active and you should be able to put off that nursing home for a while.

Sunday 28th November 2010

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello welcome to your twice weekly news of what’s happening on the motivation scene.

We start today with a plan a cunning plan but will we achieve anything, well not without putting it into action let’s find out more…..

Do you know your core beliefs? Because without this knowledge you are probably living an unhappy life we are going to ask your unconscious mind to tell us what your beliefs really are…….

Now as a child your parents were always telling you not to do that!!! But we could learn a lot from children find out more below…

Have a great Sunday and see you on Wednesday.

Motivated to Action

You can do all the planning in the world, you can prepare as much as you like but nothing will happen unless you take action, how many times have you heard that said?

That’s right nothing in our world is going to change unless we change it, action that is what we need.

Now this might sound easy and simple but to me I am very good at the first two but rubbish at the third, taking action.

I know what I have to do but my get up and go has done that got up and gone, I just cannot motivate myself sometimes.

However in an article I read this week it says I am going about this the wrong way, instead of getting motivated to do something I should just do it anyway even it bores me then as a result of doing it I shall in fact first become excited by it then become motivated by it to do more and take the action I need.

Another thing that can hold us back is fear, maybe fear of failure? Rejection, or maybe even success yes some of us are actually frightened by getting what we want, funny old world we live in isn’t it.

In fact fear can leave us paralysed and in effective, and the only cure for this is action, feel the fear and do it anyway as it says on those T-Shirts.

If you are afraid to make that call then do it anyway even if you make a hash of it, then do it again until you get it right, repetition is the first law of learning, the truth is normally what we fear never comes to pass any way, so why worry, take action instead.

Working With Your Unconscious Mind
Today I thought we would get into the science behind our actions the mind or too be more precise our two minds, as you will know the mind is split into two the unconscious and conscious, the conscious mind of course we use everyday but the unconscious is stored away deep down but what if we new how to access it when ever we wanted to.

The unconscious mind of course helps us with all those silly mundane tasks, like typing, or driving or eating, stuff we that for granted but the unconscious has store this away and brings back our memories so we never need to think consciously about these tasks.

But what if we could connect with other minds, telepathy like you see in the movies, is this possible, would you like to try and find out? Now before we get into this I am going to call it the universe you can call this force whatever you wish or your belief is, the results will be the same.

So lets try this exercise in you mind say the following saying do not think about what it means or concentrate just say it and let it go, what comes into your head just write it down even if it sounds silly to you, now repeat ten times.

To be able to live the life I want, I need to ..

Now just look at your list does it make sense to you? These are your core values and by living by these you will be able to live a happier life, go on give it a go.

3 Steps to Self Improvement– The Childish Way

When it comes to self improvement we have a lot to learn from children, its amazing really here we are as adult telling them what to do when in fact it is us who should take a step back and learn from them.

In order for us to improve we have to constantly watch our every move which in this fast paced world is impossible to do, so we end up with poor results, to improve we need to be aware of ourselves a lesson we can learn from children.

So lets take a trip back to the classroom to see if we can learn some new skills.

We have all heard the old adage “if at first you do not succeed try, try, and try again” right from their very first step a child falls over but always gets back up and tries again they don’t say to themselves this is too hard or I cant do this I’m giving up do they, and that is what we need to do just keep trying if we fall we get back up again until we achieve what we want.

Have you ever tried something that didn’t quite work out and thought to yourself “once bitten twice shy” well what about our example of children they learn the hard way how many times did your parents say to you do not do that you will hurt yourself only for you to totally ignore them and go ahead and do it then you found out why they said it and you never did it again did you?

Similarly we too have to learn from our mistakes and move on do not keep repeating those old mistakes it wont get you anywhere and will just keep hurting, move on.

Have you ever heard a child complain about anything serious in life? Sure they may make a fuss about something they want, but as a young child do they ever say I’m too fat, I’m just plain ugly they just get on with enjoying life not thinking at all about what other people think and that is what we should be doing getting on with it forget about other people for once and please yourself, sure do not go out of your way to hurt them but their opinions are just that theirs and just one opinion, there are plenty of ways to peel an onion.

Self improvement is a process that must be consciously done and continuously adhered to if it is to work. So know what you need to improve, and strive to achieve the necessary improvement.

Sunday 14th November 2010

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello welcome to your twice weekly news of what’s happening on the motivation scene.

Today we are looking at Emotional intelligence if we can master these skills then the world is really our oyster as all decisions made by us are in some way based on our emotions.

Next up did you know you have super human powers well today we are going to re-awaken those powers within you so you WILL achieve all those goals.

Lastly how is your self-esteem level? Well if it is high it could be bad for you according to new research.

Have a great Sunday and see you on Wednesday.

The Key Elements Of Emotional Intelligence

The way we behave towards others and our ability to communicate provide us with the foundations for our emotional intelligence.

Within us we hold the five keys to understanding this.

1/ Managing Emotion

2/ Self Motivation

3/ Recognising the emotions of others

4/ Understanding the emotions of others

5/ Managing Relationships.

These five keys form the basis to our emotional intelligence.

To start to use this power we must first become aware of how to perceive understand and use human emotion we need to be able to decipher the language.

Without this it is almost impossible to get it to work in your favour.

If conquered these skills can be used in any area of your life from work to marriage if you can understand the emotions of another you will be able to see why they make the decisions they do, and of course be better skilled to act on these for the betterment of both parties.

With good people skills you can change your life whether at work or play we have the ability to demonstrate the use of our social understanding and awareness to get along with others, these skills will help you in negotiating, decision making, or seeking resolution to an emotional problem.

Emotional intelligence also plays a big part in our education as from a young age we are taught how to interact with others, how to communicate, self awareness, and management all good life skills to learn and improve on.

By understanding and exploring this skill we develop an awareness far beyond ourselves and connect with our fellow humans on a deeper level which in turn increases our perception of spirituality and love.

Seeking Self Improvement? Use Your Superpowers!

Did you know you are superhuman? Yes you are and we all have superhuman powers to go with it, we just forget about them and how to use them.

We all have things we want to change in life or you would not be reading this, and most of these fall into one of the following

Relationships

Body Image

Finances

Living Conditions

Self Confidence

Employment

Of course there will be others but this will do to be getting on with, so how many times have you said about one of the above, “if only I could” or “I wish I could” maybe I whish I could make more money.

We all say these things but do we do anything about them?

These words and they are only words stop us from achieving our dreams we are telling ourselves this MIGHT be possible but I don’t think so, and therefore limiting our chances of success, after all our mind is our world and it can only give us what we ask for so we need to change the question.

Make a promise to yourself today to turn around any negative comment turn the I would like to in to I will.

I will make money by Christmas, I will lose weight before my holiday, check every statement you make, I know that sounds impossible but we have to start getting the right thoughts into our head or what chance has our mind of achieving them, after all we are not mind readers!!!

Remember repetition is the first law of learning we must use it over and over and it will eventually become so.

The power is inside of you, you just need to reawaken the giant, wake up from that sleep and start changing your life today nobody is going to do it for you, so lets put that red cape on and recognise that you do have that power and you are going to use it today.

The Problem with Self-Esteem

If you are like me then you probably struggle with self esteem, I think it is a British thing we are told not to get ‘too big for our boots’

It is strange therefore that it is related to positive mental health, Governments, schools, teachers and parents spend hours telling us that we need to become more proud of ourselves only in later life to be told not to be so selfish.

However according to new research many psychologists do not hold self-esteem in the same light as they used to.

They now agree that it leads to a need to be superior over others in order to feel good about oneself.

In fact it could be bad for us as when someone with high self esteem fails they tend to blame those around them for their failings rather than there own and dismiss any feedback even trivializing their failure.

The research continues by saying that people with high self-esteem need to bolster their self-concept and are often met with hostility and prejudice when trying to communicate with others.

So how about we change self-esteem to self-kindness or self-compassion which would put a whole new hat on it.

Instead of the need to bolster our self-esteem why not try to forgive ourselves for trying to be so perfect in the first place.

Self-compassion over self-judgment can lead to becoming more easy on yourself and stop beating up on yourself all the time, it can also lead to common humanity instead of isolation, a person with high self-esteem would see the problem as a failure of themselves as opposed to one trait that is probably held by all of us.

People who can regulate their emotions are more likely to lead a more balanced life thus leading to harmony with those around us.

To sum up self-kindness is a positive attitude towards oneself as opposed to feeling superior and can lead to some of the following benefits.

Feelings of happiness, optimism and curiosity

Decreased anxiety, depression, and rumination

Fewer feelings of failure and inferiority

More resilient feelings of self-worth over time

Less self-criticism and perfectionism

Stronger buffers against negative social comparison and public self-consciousness

Social connectedness

Less anger and close-mindedness

Emotional intelligence and wisdom

Greater initiative and mastery of goals

Wednesday 10th November 2010

The latest news from

Motivation Strategies.

Hello!

This week I’ve scoured the internet for the most effective strategies to help us.

Today we show you a bit of magic!!!! Yes just rub this lamp and you can all your wishes, or alright maybe not but you can learn how to get what you want by getting the universe on your side with manifesting.

Next we carry on that theme with money growing on trees surely not (I told you it was all about magic this week) we use this analogy to show us that maybe we do not relies how much we have already.

Lastly a survey by the US military reveals why it may be better to be an extrovert to get a good nights kip.

Enjoy have a great week, stay motivated and I will see you on Sunday.

Keys to manifesting your hearts desires

Have you ever thought about someone then a couple of minutes later they showed up or called? Then you have already manifested some think into your life before.

Manifesting is a natural way for things to turn up in your life but generally it does take some practice, it is a skill and like any other skill we need to learn it and practice it.

To start with you will need to be very specific about what it is you want, create a clear image in your mind, how does it look. How does it feel then try to visualise yourself already having received the thing you desire.

Now don’t set any rules for how it might show up if you want an extra £100 don’t go saying I wish I could earn another £100 this month just be open and let the universe decide how it will happen you might win the lottery or something.

Be grateful for what you do have for somewhere in you is already a seed of what you want, as with all seeds it just needs watering.

Each day write down all you are grateful for focusing on this will help to bring more of these into your life.

Remember the magic life can become dull remind yourself of all the magical things that show up everyday in your life and take reasonability for them.

Add some energy to what it is you want think about it with feeling, feel how good it is to have it, we are all made up of energy and without you transmitting that on the right frequency what your after is not very likely to show.

Don’t forget to keep checking in remind yourself frequently why it is you want this keep it concisely in your mind.

Now you have to take some action this might be magic but even magic needs the magician to do something to create the desired outcome watch out for all the little things that start to occur and take action on them, they may not even seem relevant at the time, but they are there for a reason and that is to bring about your dream.

The last bit is the bit I find hard, just let go of it, sometimes we try to hard, by wanting something so much you can end up pushing it away, like the drowning man if he just stopped struggling chances are he would stay afloat!!! We now just have to let it go and know that the universe will bring it to us.

Money does grow on trees

We carry on our theme of magic with the above question surely money does not grow on trees, well of course not otherwise I would plant an orchard but that is what we have to do plant a seed nurture it and watch it grow.

Abundance is all around of us every minute of the day we just have to become more aware of it

Here’s a story from Anthony de Mello’s wonderful book, Awareness, which sums it up.

An eagle lays an egg but somehow the egg finds its way into a chicken coup. A chicken incubates the egg with all her others and when it hatches, she rears the eaglet as if it were one of her own chicks. It learns to peck the dust for food, to flap its wings and to strut around the farmyard. One day, an eagle flies by overhead. The little eagle looks up and sees this, and says to himself, ‘I wish I were an eagle – how majestic, how free, how beautiful to be like that and have such a life.’ The eagle lived like a chicken and died like a chicken, because that’s hat he thought he was.

And this my friend is the tragedy we all walk around with our eyes closed, not seeing the abundance that is already in our lives, we say to ourselves I would love to be like that but its not for me, well I’m here to tell you it is for you and me.

If your life is not easy at the moment then it is you who are making it that way, not the tax man or the bank manager but you!! You are sending out messages of fear and lack and therefore that is all the universe can give you back it does not create you do it can only give you what you ask for.

Nobody else can do this for us we have to change our thoughts and see ourselves as a success otherwise we wont be, we have to stop blocking the channel and be open to what we can achieve not what we cant, and let the universe get on with the rest.

How many times have you heard the saying life is hard if you believe that then I bet your life is hard, why not try and turn it round think life is easy just live and think that way, sure things will go wrong and I bet you will notice them but what about all the good things that happened that day they outnumber that one bad thing but you don’t think about them do you.

Don’t let the world control you!! You are in control of it you created it in your mind everything you have today or lack of it comes from your thinking change that and you will change your life.

Finally stop trying to change yourself you and I were created perfect although we are taught different from day one, stop trying to impress people you are who you are let them get on with it, this does not mean you have to give up on your goals or dreams they are what you want but they wont change you just things in the material world, so who said money doesn’t grow on trees.

Sleep loss ‘worse for extroverts’

According to a recent study by the US Military it would appear that extrovert people get less sleep, but still manage to perform better.

They kept 48 volunteers awake for 36 hours, with some allowed to mix with others,

Out of these it appears that the introverts among them did better at staying awake.

The study was made up of roughly equal groups between 18 and 39 years old who went though a personality test to see whether they were introvert or extrovert.

After a good nights sleep they were then kept awake for a day and a half with tests every hour to measure their alertness.

One group were allowed to take part in board games, puzzles and social interaction while the others were not.

After this the group that were allowed the games were tested to find out who was an extrovert and which were introverts and tested again on a simple response test to a light coming on and pushing a buzzer, from this test it would appear that the introverts in this group were the winners.

But not so in the other group who were denied of any social interaction the extroverts fared better.

The researchers, from the Walter Reed Army Institute in Maryland, said the results suggested that personality type might not only have a bearing on ability to cope with military tasks which required being awake for long period, but also with shift work.

This also led to the conclusion that extroverts are more likely to be influenced by the perception of what is going on around them in the group, taking part in conversations while using their brains, leading to fatigue while the introverts stayed quite using less energy.

So if you want to stay awake longer then talk to fewer people of course the rest of us will call you a bore and your life will be no where near as exciting unless of course you are a solider on the frontline.
